Most Anticipated Asian Movies of 2013
.Bottom line – The Raid 2
.Details – The Indonesian action film The Raid has been one of the few recent asian movies to gain wide attention — it was marketed as a cult film even before its actual theatrical release in the West… Well, the sequel of this explosive violent action film is coming soon, featuring new martial artists, new bad ‘guys’ — the Hammer girl sounds promising? — and hopefully improved silat choreography. #45/ Soi Cheang’s THE MONKEY KING

Most Anticipated Asian Movies of 2013
.Bottom line – Hong Kong director Soi Cheang making a 3D adventure blockbuster
.Details – The young talented filmmaker from HK, Soi Cheang, has mostly been directing little nihilist thrillers. Now, he’s taking the next step with this big budget film, which is another adaptation of the classical Chinese fantasy story “Journey to the West“. But shot in IMAX 3D with an all-star cast, Donnie Yen & Chow Yun-fat as the lead characters. It’s a big break for Soi Cheang; first 3D project, first CGI-loaded film, first Chinese mainland production. Should be interesting to see how it works out. Knowing the film will be coming out the same year that Chow’s new version of the story. Quite a challenge!
