Teaser for Takashi Miike’s Straw Shield

Guess who’s (already!) coming back in 2013?

In Straw Shield, the granddaughter of a powerful man is murdered, but the prime suspect (Tatsuya Fujiwara) walks free. The grandfather promises an important reward to anyone who will kill the suspect.

It’s based on the book of the same name, with a promising starting plot: when a man suddenly becomes the public enemy, tracked down by everybody in the country, trying to get the attractive reward. What will the police do to prevent the suspect to be killed? Is the suspect the real murderer? Many promising questions here!

It sounds like a Rio Bravo kind of story, except scarier! Will Miike and his team will put the focus on the assassination attempts–which can be quite fun, imagine common people turning into clumsy killers–or deliver a solid psychological thriller in which moral can be ignored when there’s money to win! Maybe a mix of both?

Anyway, this first teaser brings out the excitement, the announcement of the grandfather looks visually massive–the wide large shot reinforcing how powerful he is & the window right behind his head! Watch the full scene below!–and obviously, the ‘action’ scenes–even the police doesn’t know how to deal with this situation. Wait & see!

Straw Shield will come out in Japan on April 26, 2013! For your information, the film is co-produced by Warner Bros Japan.
