“It is impossible to defeat the desert 22 flag solo, you should consider joining a party”
Don’t believe the trailer. Oshii’s Assault Girls is not 70 min of nonstop action. In fact, if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve pretty much seen the best/most exciting things. Really.
Because the film is all about repetition and boredom. You expected Girls with Guns? No, it’s more like Girls walking in the desert battlefield, thinking, watching a snail, talking.
As usual with Oshii, the film is weighed down by symbols. There’s no plot, but tons of symbols, repeated over and over, pointing out the fact that humanity has fallen into cynicism. That virtual worlds are now just as rotten as reality. But it lacks emotions.
