Sushi Typhoon is a the new label for extreme gore films created by studio Nikkatsu. Guess who’s behind this? Producer Yoshinori Chiba aka Mister Machine Gun, Yatterman and some other WTF-films. And the basic idea of this idea is to deliver “violent, popular works that only Japanese cinema has engendered“.
Their first project is Yuji Shimomura’s Alien vs. Ninja (his blog), which should come out at the same time, on DVD in North America, and in Japanese theaters! And it wouldn’t be a surprise to learn more soon from an american dvd company…
Many directors such as Noboru Iguchi, Sion Sono, Takashi Miike, Yoshihiro Nishimura… are preparing some projects for this label. Films to be screened in film festivals around the world, where japanese splatter films have built up solid reputations.
Yet another commercial label that could give birth to some chef d’oeuvre?
